Goal - To help students with academic challenges gain confidence, self-esteem and discover their true potential through the one-on-one learning environment.
Philosophy
- Every child can learn, some learn at a different pace than others.
The Kylee Mendez Scholarship, KMS, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and all donations are tax deductible. KMS is available to all students requesting financial aid.
The process of qualifying for a scholarship is as follows:
- Applicants MUST complete the application process and be accepted for enrollment by The Tenney School.
- The Tenney School will notify The Kylee Mendez Scholarship - A Friend of The Tenney School via email of those students wishing to apply for a scholarship.
- Students must complete the financial aid application provided by a third party to prove financial need.
- This will include a family submitting financial documentation (W2s, income tax returns, etc.) for the previous year(s)
- The KMS Board of Directors will evaluate the financial aid report and approve the amount of financial aid based on the report and the availability of funds.
- Scholarships will be awarded an amount between 10% and 90% of the total tuition. The financial aid recipient will be responsible to pay the difference between the school tuition and the approved financial aid amount.
To maintain their scholarship, students MUST meet these requirements:
- A family MUST be accepted for enrollment by The Tenney School
- A family MUST complete a new financial aid application for each school year
- Scholarship recipients should maintain a 3.0 GPA
- Students below a 2.0 will be taken off scholarship immediately
- Students between 2.0 and 3.0 will be placed on probation to have an opportunity to raise their GPA. If a student is placed on probation, the probation will spell out the specific terms for the student.
- If a student violates probation, the student will be removed from the scholarship program.
